|英文名称||The Colorado Plateau Biodiversity Center(CPBC)|
|简要介绍|| We have been developing the concept of a biodiversity center since 2002. All of the individual collections are now prepared to come together as an official center in collaboration with complementary efforts in conservation biology, ecological genetics, and informatics. The proposal for official recognition of the center has been approved by the Arizona Board of Regents. |
The Colorado Plateau Biodiversity Center serves to:
Collect and document species of the Colorado Plateau and comparative species from other regions;
Interpret the natural world through education, research, and public programs;
Promote understanding of the evolution and diversity of the Colorado Plateau; and
Inspire in all a respect for biodiversity and the environment.
The Center promotes the preservation of biological diversity through research and education. The collections of whole specimens, genetic material, and digital archives are held in trust for the scientific research community, the general public, and for future generations.
The Colorado Plateau Biodiversity Center's seven divisions of natural history collections comprise over 425,000 speciments and are cared for by 16 faculty curators.
